After using a Brita for a couple of years, we decided to give the Pur a try, and it appears to be more effective. Our municipal water is generally good, but we sometimes notice chlorine or off flavors. The Pur does a much better job of eliminating these issues compared to the Brita.

The build quality feels superior as well, and I appreciate that the components are dishwasher-safe. It has a great capacity for its size without taking up too much space.
